About Marcella
Marcella
Marcella brings a rich musical background to the world of Latin dance. Her connection to rhythm and movement came early, growing up in a home filled with reggae music, as her father was a reggae musician. That early exposure to a wide variety of musical styles helped shape her deep love for music. She later went on to earn both undergraduate and graduate degrees in music, which laid the foundation for her artistry and discipline as a performer and teacher.
Her love of salsa dancing grew into a serious pursuit when she moved to California in 2020. Immersed in the vibrant L.A. dance scene, she social danced five to six nights a week and joined a local salsa team. In 2021, she traveled to Brazil for immersive training, expanding her understanding of Latin dance.
Marcella began teaching in 2022, where she continues to refine her craft. She brings both heart and humor to every class, while also being a highly detail-oriented instructor who helps her students truly embody what it takes to be a dancer. With a strong belief that solid technique is the gateway to true musical expression, Marcella is passionate about helping students build both confidence and artistry on and off the dance floor.
In 2024, Marcella and Laura co-founded Columbus Latin Dance Academy with a shared vision—not only to train expressive, technically skilled dancers, but also to create a welcoming community where people support and care for one another. For Marcella, music and dance have always been powerful outlets for creativity, growth, and healing. She is committed to making sure everyone has the opportunity to experience that same sense of expression, connection, and belonging through dance.
